Get ready for the last public competition of the TREND – Technology Leaders programme

Together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR), has published the preliminary parameters of the 12th public competition TREND to support research and development of new products and production processes or services. This is the last public competition of the popular TREND programme, which is approved in the programme document, so do not hesitate to use this opportunity. For the follow-up period 2025 to 2031, the TWIST programme is currently being prepared, which will aim to strengthen knowledge transfer, research, development, and innovation in strategic technologies.

The TREND – Technological Leaders programme is specifically focused on strengthening the international competitiveness of the applicant, therefore the results of the R&D activities within the project should have an impact on the shift in global value chains or ensure entry into a new market. A prerequisite for a successful project is also the achievement of a certain type of result, such as a prototype, a working sample, software, an industrial or utility model, a pilot operation, etc. The preliminary parameters for the 12th call for tenders are as follows:

Who can apply for a subsidy:

  • Enterprises of all sizes from all over the Czech Republic, including Prague, having at least two years of accounting history
  • Research organisations in cooperation with enterprises
  • Enterprises that already have experience in performing R&D or purchasing R&D services from a research organisation.

What the subsidy covers:

  • Staffing costs
  • Cost of technology and equipment in the form of depreciation
  • Contract research and service costs
  • Other direct costs (e.g. materials, travel, small tangible/intangible assets).

Amount of support:

  • The maximum amount of support per project is CZK 25 million
  • Subsidies provided ex-ante, i.e. in advance.

Level of support:

  • Industrial research: 50-70% depending on the size of the enterprise
  • Experimental development: 25-45% depending on the size of the enterprise
  • 15% bonus for cooperation with a university or SME (small and medium-sized enterprise).

Dates and deadlines:

  • Planned date of announcement of the competition: 26 June 2024
  • Competition period: 27 June – 14 August 2024
  • Announcement of results: 28 February 2025
  • Start of implementation: January-March 2025
  • Duration: 12-36 months, no later than 31 December 2027.
