Announcement of New Programmes, Calls and Public Tenders to Support the Fight Against COVID-19

In early April, several calls and public tenders from various programmes were announced in response to the current situation caused by COVID-19. More details about Technology COVID-19, Czech Rise Up – Smart Measures Against COVID-19, The Country for the Future – Focus on COVID-19, EGAP Programme of a System of Loan Guarantees for Export Companies and Producers and other projects are provided below.

Technology COVID-19

This call is a part of the Technology grant programme and supports projects focusing on the development or use of new technologies that could be used in the fight against the coronavirus, e.g. the production of medical devices, personal protective equipment or the disposal of infectious waste.

Who can request the grant:

  • Small and medium-sized enterprises.

What the grant can be used for:

  • Costs for production technologies, machinery and equipment.
  • Tangible fixed assets.

Grant amount per project:

  • From CZK 250 thousand to 20 million.

Aid intensity per project:

  • Maximum of 50% eligible costs for the whole project.

Receipt of applications:

  • 27 April 2020 – 29 May 2020.

This is a single call. The project has to be delivered in the Czech Republic, outside the Capital City of Prague, depending on the actual place where the project is implemented. The project can only have one stage.

Czech Rise Up – Smart Measures Against COVID-19

This programme supports projects focusing on fighting the coronavirus by a rapid implementation of new solutions into practice. It applies to the following activities:

  • Production of protective equipment against COVID-19.
  • Use of existing technologies to introduce new (non-)medical solutions against COVID-19.
  • Development of new products to create new (non-)medical solutions against COVID-19.

Who can request the grant:

  • Small, medium-sized and large enterprises.
  • Research organisations.

What the grant can be used for:

  • Personnel costs (expenditure for wages of the staff involved).
  • Costs for material and energy.
  • Costs for requisite services.
  • Other requisite related costs.

Grant amount per project:

  • From CZK 500 thousand to 5 million.

Aid intensity per project:

  • Maximum of 50 – 90% eligible costs for the whole project, depending on the type of activity.

Receipt of applications:

  • From 2 April 2020 until the allocated funds are exhausted or until the reasons for this call are no longer applicable.

Submissions of aid applications are received and assessed on a rolling basis until the allocated funds are exhausted or the reasons for this call are no longer applicable. The project can be delivered anywhere in the Czech Republic.

The Country for the Future – Focus on COVID-19

This call is a part of The Country for the Future programme and supports projects aimed at the implementation of innovations in the form of innovated processes, products or organisation. For example, it applies to a new device required for new or enhanced products, more effective processes that decrease the consumption of materials or energy per production unit, or innovated methods of logistics, supplies or distribution.

Who can request the grant:

  • Small and medium‑sized enterprises.

What the grant can be used for:

  • Personnel costs (expenditure for wages and insurance of the project promoters).
  • Overhead and other direct costs.
  • Costs for contract research, knowledge and patents.
  • Costs for advisory and support services in the area of innovation.

Grant amount per project:

  • Up to the maximum amount of CZK 25 million.

Aid intensity per project:

  • Maximum of 50% eligible costs for the whole project. Under the de minimis regime, up to 100% eligible costs.

Receipt of applications:

3 April 2020 – 15 May 2020.

Innovation Vouchers COVID-19

This call is a part of the Innovation Vouchers programme and supports projects aimed at sharing know-how between research organisations and enterprises in order to fight COVID‑19 and mitigate its further spread. For example, it applies to the purchase of advisory or expert services in the area of innovation in order to launch or extend innovative activities that could help in the fight against the coronavirus.

Who can request the grant:

  • Small and medium-sized enterprises.

What the grant can be used for:

  • Costs for advisory, expert or support services in the area of innovation.

Grant amount per project:

  • From CZK 50 thousand to 999 thousand.

Aid intensity per project:

  • Maximum of 85% eligible costs for the whole project if the eligible costs do not exceed the maximum amount of CZK 498,823.
  • Maximum of 50% eligible costs for the whole project if the eligible costs do not exceed the maximum amount of CZK 1,999,999.

Receipt of applications:

  • 17 April 2020 – 31 December 2020.

This is a single call. The project has to be delivered in the Czech Republic, outside the Capital City of Prague, depending on the actual place where the project is implemented.

EGAP Programme of a System of Loan Guarantees for Export Companies and Producers

During the pandemic, EGAP (The Export Guarantee and Insurance Corporation) will provide support to large enterprises in the form of loan guarantees. The aim of this programme is to sustain the liquidity of export‑oriented enterprises.

Who can request the guarantee:

  • Large enterprises.

What the guarantee can be used for:

  • Working capital or current assets loans granted between 12 March 2020 and 31 December 2020 or an investment loan.

Guarantee amount:

  • From CZK 5 million to 1,400 million (EUR 50 million).

Guarantee intensity:

  • The maximum limit of the loan amounts to 25% of the total annual revenues from the sales of products or services for 2019. EGAP will cover the loan principal up to 80%, the minimal share of the bank must be at least 20%.

Receipt of applications:

  • To be announced.

It will be necessary to contact the lending bank since it will handle the applications for guarantees provided by EGAP. The programme is not intended for enterprises whose existence was threatened even before the declaration of the emergency state. The share of the export of goods and services on the total revenues from products and services and the sales of goods must be at least 20% for 2019.

COVID Prague

This call is a part of the Operational Programme Prague – Growth Pole of the Czech Republic. It aims at the support of Prague enterprises that cannot submit applications for grants in several other calls or programmes that help enterprises during the pandemic. The support has the form of loan guarantees for enterprises that were provided a loan by commercial banks together with a financial contribution for interest reimbursement.

Who can request the grant:

  • Small and medium-sized enterprises located in Prague.

What the grant can be used for:

  • Personnel costs (expenditure for wages).
  • Cost for energy and rents.
  • Costs for the reimbursement of supplier-costumer invoices.
  • Cost for pre-financing of receivables or the acquisition of assets, inventory and other low‑value assets.

Grant amount:

  • Up to the guaranteed loan limit in the amount of CZK 15 million, including a three-year guarantee and a financial contribution for interest reimbursement up to CZK 1 million.

Aid intensity:

  • Maximum of 80% the principal of a commercial loan.

Receipt of applications:

  • 21 April 2020 until funds are exhausted.
