MIT prepares new calls focused on local distribution networks

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is preparing two calls within the specific Energy Infrastructure objective focused on local distribution networks (LDN). These are the Energy Infrastructure – savings in LDN and Energy Infrastructure – RES in LDN calls.

Supported activities will include strengthening distribution networks and increasing their connectivity capacity and comprehensive measures to improve reliability, awareness and implementation of operational optimisation in distribution systems.

Q4 2023

Call I – Energy infrastructure – savings in LDN

Supported activities:

  • Purchase and installation of transformers.
  • Purchase and installation of transformers of all voltage levels, including indoor substations, transformer vaults and retrofitting of substations.
  • Purchase and installation of pole-mounted, kiosk and brick substations.

Specific conditions:

  • As part of the application for support, a binary criterion must be met, where the project must contribute to reducing the technical losses of distribution substations by a minimum of 50% of the baseline condition of the transformer being replaced.

Call I – Energy infrastructure – RES in LDN

Supported activities:

  • Reinforcement of overhead and cable lines.
  • Construction and modernisation of a substation or electrical station (construction part, technology).
  • Purchase and installation of switchgear, transformers, indoor substations, vaults and retrofitting of substations.
  • Installation of smart grid elements (e.g. deployment of remote-controlled section breakers and switches on distribution lines, implementation of remote-controlled distribution stations, etc.)

Specific conditions:

  • As part of the application for support, a binary criterion must be met, where the additional renewable capacity must reach a minimum level of 10% of the existing connection capacity within the supply area of the operated distribution networks.
