New grant call for battery storage
The State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic plans to announce a new call from the Modernization Fund on March 15, titled RES+ No. 5/2025, to support the accumulation flexibility of the power system due to renewable energy sources (RES). The program will focus on the acquisition of battery energy storage systems for charging from RES. Below, we provide the anticipated conditions and parameters of the call.
Which expenses can be supported?
- The call will support the acquisition of battery energy storage systems. According to the GBER regulation, the storage element will need to receive at least 75% of its energy annually from directly connected renewable energy production facilities.
- The expected maximum subsidy amount is 30% of eligible costs; the allocation of the call is not yet known.
Eligible applicants:
- Enterprises of all sizes
- Implementation throughout the Czech Republic, including Prague
Important dates and deadlines:
- Planned announcement date of the call: March 15, 2025
- Planned application submission period: from March 15, 2025, to April 30, 2025
The call will likely to be competitive. Applications will be evaluated based on the amount of the requested subsidy per battery capacity unit. Applicants who request a smaller subsidy will receive more points and will have a greater chance of success.
Given the very short time frame for preparing the application after the call is announced, we recommend starting the preparation of your project proposal as soon as possible.
