Announcement of Last Calls in the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovations for Competitiveness for the period of 2014-2020

At the beginning of September, expected grant calls under the Enterprise and Innovations for Competitiveness Operational Programme were announced. These are predominantly the last calls focused on research and development activities, whereby applicants may receive grants for individual projects amounting up to tens of millions of Czech crowns. Thus, they represent a very interesting way to support investment and operating expenses. In total, more than CZK 10 billion should be distributed among entrepreneurs as part of these and other autumn calls. Below, we present a more detailed description and parameters of individual calls from the following programmes: Application, Innovation and Potential. 

Application Programme

Application programme supports projects aimed at implementing industrial research and experimental development activities leading to specific outputs in the form of, for example, prototypes, industrial or utility models, proven technologies or software. For one project, each applicant may receive aid amounting to CZK 50 million or, if certain conditions are met, up to CZK 100 million. In total, CZK 3.7 billion has been allocated for this call.

Who can request the grant:

  • Small, medium and large enterprises. However, large enterprises only on the condition that the project has a positive impact on the environment or if the main intention of the project is the cooperation of a LE with a SME on a particular project.

What the grant can be used for:

  • Personnel expenses (expenses for wages and insurance of researchers, technicians, etc.)
  • Expenditure on instruments, machines and equipment, in the form of depreciation of tangible fixed assets for the duration of the project
  • Expenditure on contract research
  • Expenditure on R&D advisory services (hereinafter referred to as R&D) used solely for the purposes of the project
  • Additional overheads and other operating expenses

Grant amount per project:

  • From CZK 2 million to CZK 50 million for projects without effective cooperation
  • From CZK 2 million to CZK 100 million for projects under effective cooperation, CZ-NACE 30.3 or under intervention code 063 or 065 (a project with a positive impact on the environment or with the main intention of cooperation of a LE with a SME)

Aid intensity per project:

  • Maximum of 70% of eligible expenditure for the whole project, depending on the type of activity and the size of the enterprise

Receipt of applications

  • 14 September 2020 – 15 December 2020

This is a call in rounds. The project must be carried out in the Czech Republic, outside the territory of the capital city of Prague; the actual place where the project is implemented is decisive. Projects carried out in the economically problematic regions (Moravian-Silesian, Ústí nad Labem and Karlovy Vary regions) will receive bonus points.

Innovation programme

Innovation programme is aimed at supporting projects introducing new or innovated products, technologies or services into production and on the market. Supported activities include, for example, product innovation activities such as strengthening the technical and utility values of products, technologies and services, process innovation activities such as increasing the efficiency of the production process or providing services. For one project, each applicant may receive aid amounting to CZK 75 million. In total, CZK 1.5 billion has been allocated for this call.

Who can request the grant:

  • Small, medium and large enterprises. However, large enterprises only on the condition that the submitted project has a positive impact on the environment.

What the grant can be used for:

  • Expenditure on project documentation, including engineering activities
  • Construction expenditure
  • Expenditure on production technologies, machinery and equipment
  • Software and data expenses
  • Expenditure on rights to use intellectual property
  • Product certification expenses
  • Marketing innovation expenses

Grant amount per project:

  • From CZK 1 million to CZK 75 million

Aid intensity per project:

  • Maximum of 45% of eligible expenditure for small enterprises
  • Maximum of 35% of eligible expenditure for medium enterprises
  • Maximum of 25% of eligible expenditure for large enterprises

Receipt of applications:

  • 15 October 2020 – 29 January 2021

This is an ongoing call. The project must be carried out in the Czech Republic, outside the territory of the capital city of Prague; the actual place where the project is implemented is decisive. Projects carried out in the economically problematic regions (Moravian-Silesian, Ústí nad Labem and Karlovy Vary regions) will receive bonus points.

Potential programme

Potential programme supports projects aimed at building or expanding industrial research, development and innovation centres. The aid is provided for the purchase of land, buildings, machinery/equipment and other facilities of a research and development centre. For one project, each applicant may receive aid amounting to CZK 50 million. In total, CZK 1.1 billion has been allocated for this call.

Who can request the grant:

  • Small, medium and large enterprises. However, large enterprises only on the condition that the project submitted has a positive impact on the environment or if the main intention of the project is the cooperation of a LE with a SME on a specific R&D project.

What the grant can be used for:

  • Expenditure on tangible fixed assets necessary for the performance of R&D activities and equipment of the R&D centre, such as the purchase of land, buildings, machinery and other equipment.
  • Expenditure on buildings (new buildings and technical improvement of buildings), but only up to 40% of total eligible investment expenditure for the project.
  • Intangible fixed assets meeting the conditions of the call, up to 50% of the total eligible investment expenditure for the project

Grant amount per project:

  • CZK 2 million – CZK 50 million

Aid intensity per project:

  • Maximum of 50% of eligible expenses for all types of enterprise sizes

Receipt of applications:

  • 4 September 2020 – 23 November 2020
